I've got it running...it's okay, I guess.

I can't get the TPM working for BitLocker. I also can't get the sound working. The video is lousy...still don't have a WDDM driver for this ridiculous video, so haven't been able to force it to use Aero, even though it worked great in the Vista Beta and the effects are beautiful in Linux. Have you figured that out?

Once I got the response on the bug report I didn't dig any further into it.

I guess I hadn't originally noticed clickonce apps weren't being tracked for frequency, but it seems as though its not being tracked on my Win7 machine for ClickOnce apps. I don't have any newer builds of Win7 so I can't test if it has been resolved since the Beta however.

Because you hit this problem before me, I contacted you to verify whether you have made any investigations regarding the issue.

Here's what I saw: When a ClickOnce app is pinned to the taskbar, it directly starts the exe file, rather than via the .appref-ms file. So, it behaves like a "native" application and not a ClickOnce app (IsNetworkDeployed returns false). I wonder if what you saw was the result of the same thing.

As an aside, it appears like .appref-ms links aren't tracked for frequently used applications list in the taskbar. Have you come across this problem as well?

EF vNext might actually be usable, but it isn't LINQ to SQL and it doesn't fit where LINQ to SQL fits. Its kind of like using a hammer to clean your windows.

Simply put, EF (even if it works) won't work for any of my projects but LINQ to SQL does

From my perspective it makes windows development a heck of a lot better and easier. In Win32 API programming you have to do everything the hard way (and it really is hard). In Win32 you get common controls and if you want something custom you get to draw it by yourself pixel by pixel.

It is kind of like what C#/Java is to C and C++. It does the dirty work for you letting you go above and beyond without constantly reinventing the world. It also brings in some of the ideas that appeared in web programming like styles and declarative markup.

Anyways, good job on the presentation.

One thing Harris and I were wondering is what is the purpose of WPF? What problem is it trying to solve? What's it used for?
